Good Enough

Why on earth do we treat ourselves badly

We wouldn’t others, but us, yes, sadly

We criticise and feel we’ve failed

When really all we’ve done is sailed

Out on a path which is our own

And done our best with task unknown

We’re here to learn not be the best

And yet we constantly fail the test

But only in our own perception

Others see complete perfection

But it’s not enough for us, not us

We worry and cringe and make a fuss

If only we could have self belief

And do our best with such relief

We need to see what others see

And live with joy and simply be

Why on earth do we treat ourselves badly

We wouldn’t others, but us, yes, sadly

We criticise and feel we’ve failed

When really all we’ve done is hailed

I started writing as a child but was encouraged to look elsewhere for my career and "get a proper job". I then became a nurse and have only recently returned to writing. I've recently published my first book which you can check out here I am currently part way through a YA novel which is all about a 14 year old girl who discovers she's half fairy on her 14th birthday. I live in a beautiful part of Devon, close to a canal where I love to go to write. I have a three legged Burmilla cat called Nala and love anything that brings a little more magic into the world. I developed OCD, Anxiety & Depression, back in 2007 which led to me having to retire from my nursing career and reinvent myself. I am passionate about helping people accept that debilitating mental health problems are just as valid as physical disabilities. And I want to help others who have these conditions to discover their own version of life magic. I am also a part time wheelchair user because of some chronic back conditions. I recently discovered the power of magnets in controlling my pain so am now also an independent consultant for a line of beautiful jewellery and wellness products which help me manage that. I have also been an award winning Colour Me Beautiful Image Consultant since 2008 and joined the @home side of the business in 2017, along with my fabulous daughter, Hayley We specialise in selling make up which works well with an individual's hair & eye colour and skin tone Our hero product is a magnetic compact which you buy individual items for, so you only carry shades which flatter your look and colouring, and avoid wastage.

    1. So agree. But we need to be wary of criticising ourselves more than we would others. I have a terrible habit of treating myself differently to everyone else and setting myself standards which are unattainable xxx

          1. Be yourself and Remember that you have much to offer others.Be confident in your decisions and how you reach out to others.
Learn to love yourself so others will love you in return. Speak to yourself in mirror that how amazing you are.

    1. Thank you so much. I’m so glad I’ve come back to my writing as it always gave me so much pleasure when I was younger. To receive positive comments too is just the icing on the cake.
